1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you (“you” or “User”) and Wrangler Software LLC (“we,” “us,” or “Company”), governing your purchase, download, installation, and use of the Media Card Wrangler macOS application (“Wrangler” or the “Software”).
By clicking “I Agree”, completing a purchase, or installing the Software, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not purchase, download, install, or use the Software.
If you are using the Software on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity, and “you” refers to that entity.
2. What the Software Is (and Is Not)
Wrangler is a desktop utility that reorganizes the contents of a folder you point it at, typically a copied camera or audio memory card. It moves recognized media files to the top level of that folder, sets aside unrecognized files in a clearly labeled Strays folder, and removes empty folders and recognized system junk. Every run generates a report and an undo record.
Wrangler is a cleanup utility. It is not an offload tool, a backup tool, an archive tool, a verification tool, or a data recovery tool, and it should never be used as your only or first copy of media from a camera card. You are solely responsible for offloading and backing up your original media before running the Software on it.
The Software is intended for use on copies of media that you have already backed up elsewhere. We strongly recommend verifying that backup before running Wrangler.
3. License Grant
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of the applicable purchase price, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable license — revocable only as provided in Section 12 (Termination) — to install and use the Software on up to two (2) Mac computers at a time that you own or control (or such other number of activations as we specify for your particular license), for your own personal or internal business purposes.
Your license is personal to you: you may not sell, rent, lease, sublicense, assign, or otherwise transfer it to any other person or entity. You may, however, deactivate the Software on one of your computers to free that activation and activate it on another computer you own or control, provided you do not exceed your activation limit at any one time.
This is a license to use the Software, not a sale of the Software itself. We and our licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Software, including all intellectual property rights. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership rights to you.
3.1 License Type
Each purchase is a one-time, perpetual license for the major version of the Software purchased, as described in Section 7 (Updates). It is not a subscription unless explicitly sold as one.
3.2 Restrictions
You agree not to:
- • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Software, except as permitted by applicable law
- • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite the limitation
- • Rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, or otherwise transfer the Software or your license to any third party
- • Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the Software
- • Use the Software to build a competing product or service
- • Circumvent any licensing, activation, or seat-limit mechanism in the Software
3.3 Demo Mode and Beta Versions
The Software may be used without a purchased license in demo mode, which includes a limited number of complete wrangles at no charge (currently ten (10)). Demo use is licensed, not unrestricted: these Terms — including the Acceptable Use rules, the backup obligations in Section 2, the Warranty Disclaimer, and the Limitation of Liability — apply to demo use exactly as they apply to paid use. When the demo allowance is used up, the Software stops performing new wrangles until a license key is entered; functions that protect work you have already done — including undo and Restore from Receipt — remain available. We may change the scope of demo mode (such as the number of included wrangles) in future versions of the Software.
From time to time we may offer pre-release or beta versions of the Software, or complimentary beta license keys, including keys we designate for shared or group use. Beta software is provided for testing, may contain errors, and may change or stop working when the beta period ends.
Complimentary beta licenses are not purchased licenses: they carry no refund rights, and Section 5 (Refunds) does not apply to them. We will not revoke a complimentary beta license issued to an individual tester when the beta program ends — it remains valid on the same terms as a standard license, including the activation limits in Section 3.1 and the major-version scope in Section 7, and subject to Section 12 (Termination). These Terms otherwise apply to beta use in full.
4. Purchase, Pricing, and Payment
The current price for a license is listed at the time of purchase on mediacardwrangler.com. Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor Stripe; your payment information is handled by that processor under its own terms and privacy policy, and we do not store your full payment card details.
Prices may change at any time for future purchases. A price change does not affect a license you have already purchased.
You are responsible for any sales tax, VAT, or similar charges applicable to your purchase, to the extent not already collected by the payment processor at checkout.
5. Refunds
We want you to be satisfied with Wrangler. If you are not, you may request a refund within 30 days of your original purchase date by contacting us through our Support page. Refund requests are reviewed and granted at our discretion; our general practice is to grant them freely for any good-faith request, including simply changing your mind or finding the Software isn't useful to you.
If a refund is granted, the license associated with your purchase is deactivated and no longer unlocks unlimited wrangles. This does not revoke your right to use the Software generally: the Software returns to free demo mode in the same state it was in immediately before your purchase, with any demo wrangles you had not yet used still available. Demo wrangles used before the purchase are not restored.
Refunds, if any, are issued to the original payment method through Stripe, and processing times are subject to Stripe's policies and your bank.
6. Acceptable Use
In addition to the license restrictions in Section 3.2, you agree to:
- • Use the Software only on media and folders you own or have the legal right to modify
- • Maintain your own independent backups of any media before processing it with the Software
- • Not use the Software in any way that violates applicable law
- • Not use the Software in any context where its failure or misuse could lead to loss of life, significant bodily harm, or environmental damage (the Software is a file-organization utility, not safety-critical software)
7. Updates, Major Versions, and Support
We may, but are not obligated to, release updates, patches, or new versions of the Software. Your purchase entitles you, at no additional charge, to all updates we release within the major version your license covers — for example, a license covering version 1 includes all 1.x releases.
A future major version (for example, version 2.0) may be offered as a separate paid product. If it is, it will be a separate download requiring its own license: it will not be delivered to you as an automatic update, and your existing license will not activate it. The release of a new major version does not end your license for the version you purchased — you may continue using it.
We are not obligated to provide technical support, but may do so at our discretion through the contact channel listed in Section 16. We may discontinue support or updates for older versions of macOS or older versions of the Software at any time.
8. Data and Privacy
Wrangler is designed to operate locally on your Mac. It reads and moves files within folders you select; it does not require an account to function, and it does not upload your media files to us or to any third party. License activation/validation may require the Software to contact our license server over the internet to verify your license, which may transmit a hashed device identifier and license key. See our Privacy Policy (separate document) for details.
9. Warranty Disclaimer
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL PREVENT ALL POSSIBLE DATA LOSS. WHILE THE SOFTWARE IS DESIGNED WITH SAFEGUARDS DESCRIBED ON OUR WEBSITE (INCLUDING PREVIEW-BEFORE-ACTION, UNDO RECEIPTS, AND AUTOMATIC ROLLBACK ON FAILURE), YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING INDEPENDENT, VERIFIED BACKUPS OF ANY MEDIA BEFORE PROCESSING IT WITH THE SOFTWARE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you. In that case, any implied warranties are limited to the minimum scope and duration permitted by applicable law.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID US FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE [TWELVE (12)] MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you in full.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Software, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party, including claims arising from media you process with the Software that you did not have the right to access or modify.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Software and uninstall it at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms and fail to cure that breach within a reasonable time after notice, or immediately in cases of suspected fraud, abuse, or unauthorized distribution of the Software.
Upon termination, your right to use the Software ends immediately, and you must uninstall and cease all use of the Software. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 9, 10, 11, 14, and 16) will survive.
13. Third-Party Components
The Software may include open-source or third-party components, each subject to its own license terms. [A list of third-party licenses / acknowledgments is available at: URL, or within the app's About/Licenses screen].
14. Intellectual Property
The Software, including its design, code, branding, name “Media Card Wrangler,” logo, and all related materials, is owned by Wrangler Software LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or branding without our prior written consent.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as an in-app notification or email). Your continued use of the Software after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you should stop using the Software.
16. Contact
Questions about these Terms, refunds, or licensing can be sent to mediacardwrangler@gmail.com.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent a different consumer-protection law mandatorily applies based on your location.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Software will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
18. Miscellaneous
18.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with any Privacy Policy and any order confirmation you receive, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Software and supersede any prior agreements.
18.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force.
18.3 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
18.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your license without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
18.5 Force Majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control.
